- When an article arrives at Revista Espacios, it goes through different departments to guarantee quality control. The registration, peer review, production and promotion of the article is carried out with a high professional and academic standard.
Academic editor
- The academic editor performs a first review in which they take into account, as a primary selection criterion:
a) the appropriate topic for the journal
b) compliance with the format required by the journal
c) the scientific solidity of the document presented, its originality, timeliness and impact.
At this stage, he decides if the article is sent to an academic peer that he selects according to the topic covered in the article.
Reviewers (Evaluators-Referees)
- The journal has the collaboration of external reviewers. The review process is carried out through the simple blind modality for all manuscripts that correspond to research articles, case studies and reviews. The meeting of the reviewers and the evaluation itself last approximately 6 weeks. This time will be increased in cases of opposing, contradictory evaluations or controversy between the reviewers.
- The reviewers, academic peers, perform a content evaluation to ensure that the article:
Use the Word® template corresponding to the chosen language (templates.html)
Be an original article (use of anti-plagiarism software)
Contains the basic elements (title, abstract, keywords, introduction, objectives, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions and bibliographic references)
Comply with the journal's ethical guidelines and international academic quality standards.
Constitute a contribution to universal knowledge with social relevance.
It is correctly written in the chosen language (Spanish, Portuguese or English)
Follow the recommendations regarding texts, figures, tables and bibliography (APA Standards) for the correct presentation of the document.
- Reviewers provide the Academic Editor with the results of their evaluation (approval, corrections or rejection), written into an online template. The Academic Editor is responsible for responding to the author, ensuring the premise of a single-blind review.
Controversies
- In case of controversy between reviewers, the Academic Editor will appoint a third reviewer and, based on their opinion, will send the authors the necessary corrections to their manuscript. After that, the Academic Editor will make a final decision. This decision may be: a) The text is publishable without modifications, b) The text is publishable with minor modifications, c) The text requires major modifications and new evaluation, and d) The text is not publishable.
Observations/modifications
- In the case of articles requiring modifications, the authors must send the corrected version of their article through the digital platform, and in a separate email (info@revistaespacios.com), a letter of response to all the comments made by the authors. reviewers, indicating the section of the document where the changes were made or, if necessary, the arguments indicating why the suggested changes were not made.
The corrected version of the article and the response letter will be sent to the reviewers for a second round of evaluation with a view to obtaining a final verdict.
Article approval
- The Academic Editor approves the publication of the article, once the final evaluations of the peers have been assessed.

Prepare the cover page for each article in HTML format, which must include: title, authors, abstract, affiliation, DOI identifier and link to access the full version in PDF;
Establish the tags and metatags, and necessary codes so search engines of databases, repositories and indexers where the journal is referenced can perform their tasks. The inclusion or not, as well as the time of inclusion to these databases, repositories and indexers, is the duty of the organizers that lead them. Revista Espacios is not responsible for their inclusion;
Generate a PDF file with the complete article, adapting texts, figures, graphics and tables to the publishing guidelines of Espacios Magazine;
Carry out the DOI deposit of each article in the CrossRef platform;
Place a Google ID in each article so it appears immediately in its database, thus making the journal more visible and more easily accessed by users.
- Editorial Espacios has joined the Initiative for Open Abstracts (I4OA) for which the abstracts of the articles published in Revista Espacios are openly available.
- The payment of USD 180.00 for Article Processing Charges (APC) is to be destined for covering the costs of the platform, updating apps and equipments, and administrative and staff expenses of Grupo Editorial Espacios.
