Ethics and Editorial Policies

Revista Espacios maintains a general policy of continuous improvement of its editorial and administrative processes to guarantee the quality, originality, and impact of the scientific articles it publishes exclusively in electronic format. Our commitment is to offer a simple and direct navigation experience, with agile evaluation and support procedures, following internationally accepted ethical guidelines.

I. Ethical Guidelines and Obligations

1. Authors' Obligations

  • Authorship and Contribution: All signatories must have contributed significantly to the preparation of the work, agree with the results, and authorize the formal submission of the manuscript.
  • Regulatory Compliance: It is mandatory to strictly comply with the publication guidelines of Revista Espacios.
  • Research Integrity: Authors must avoid research fragmentation (salami slicing) and simultaneous submission to other journals, except for resubmissions following a formal rejection or prior withdrawal.
  • Publication Frequency: Authors commit to strictly respecting the frequency and authorship rotation limits established by the journal to ensure scientific plurality.

2. Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest is considered any link between authors, reviewers, or editors and activities, individuals, or institutions that could inappropriately influence opinions or judgments. All parties must promptly disclose any financial or academic conflicts that could bias the interpretation of the results.

3. Editors' Obligations

  • Editorial Authority: Editors accept or reject articles based on scientific rigor and peer recommendations. They may withdraw manuscripts (received, accepted, or published) if plagiarism, scientific fraud, or serious errors are proven.
  • Impartiality: Evaluation is based exclusively on intellectual content, regardless of race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or political philosophies.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must ensure the anonymity of reviewers and the confidentiality of works in progress.

4. Reviewers' Obligations

We adopt a single-blind external peer review model, supported by a Review Coordinator to facilitate technical communication.

  • Objectivity: Reviewers conduct fair and independent evaluations based on technical quality, using the evaluation forms provided by the journal.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts are confidential documents; they may not be discussed or shown to third parties.
  • Constructive Role: Reviewers assist authors in improving their articles through detailed observations and suggestions.

II. General Editorial Policies

Open Access and Interoperability
We are an Open Access publication (Budapest Initiative). We comply with the OAI-PMH protocol and assign a DOI to every article.
Anti-plagiarism Policy
We utilize Turnitin®, SmallSEOTools®, and DupliChecker®. Any indication of plagiarism will lead to the immediate rejection of the manuscript.

Authorship Diversity and Institutional Rotation

To comply with international indexing standards that promote academic plurality and prevent editorial endogamy, Revista Espacios applies frequency control criteria for all contributors:

  • Authorship Limit: A researcher (whether as a primary author or co-author) may publish a maximum of one (1) article every six months.
  • Maximum Annual Quota: The publication of more than two (2) articles by the same author within a calendar year is not permitted. These must necessarily be scheduled in different semesters.
  • Administrative Filter: Manuscripts received that exceed these limits will be deferred to subsequent issues or administratively rejected, in order to prioritize the rotation of institutions and countries in each volume.

Copyright and License

Authors retain their copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

Funding (APC)

As a non-profit entity, we request an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 110.00 USD (40.00 USD for authors in Venezuela) to cover operating costs, DOI, SciELO indexing, and OJS platform maintenance.

III. Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the stated purposes and will not be made available to third parties for any other purpose. In compliance with the GDPR, users may request the update or deletion of their data at any time.
